How it works
UK domains are controlled by Nominet. You can
buy your domain name
directly from Nominet (at a price!) or from organisations
such as
ourselves that are members of Nominet.
Each Nominet member is assigned a Nominet "tag".
Our tag is "SOFT-ART".
When you buy a domain name your domain is associated
with the Nominet
tag of that organisation.
Only the Tag holder (or Nominet themselves) is able
to configure your
domain name so that it can be set up for email and for
web pages. So that
means that if you bought your domain from someone else
(for shame!) and you
wish us to provide email or web forwarding or full web
site hosting, then you
need to arrange to "transfer the Nominet tag of
your domain to SOFT-ART".
How to transfer your domain name tag to us
You need to contact the people who sold you the domain
name to find out
what procedure they follow for this. Essentially however
you will need to
issue a fairly formal (ie written) request to them (either
by letter or by
fax) instructing them to "transfer the tag to SOFT-ART"
How long does a domain transfer take?
Again, this is entirely up to the organisation you
are dealing with. It CAN
be done in just a few minutes. Some organisations drag
their heels unfortunately.

How will we know the transfer has been done?
No doubt the company you are dealing with will tell
you. But in any case we receive notification by Nominet
the moment the transfer is complete.
What if I need to transfer the domain away from you at a future
date?
Just fax a signed request to 01872 530814 and
we will action your request
within 24 hours (usually within the hour!). The only
exception would be if your
account is not up to date.
We make no charge for transfers.
